Taking the opportunity of a "tour of the press", organized by Almaverde ' Biography on 15 October 2010, FreshPlaza visited the factory Besana, located at San Gennaro Vesuviano (Naples). in addition to being a major player in the production, processing and marketing of nuts and dried fruit in Europe, since 2000, the Group of Besana is partner of Almaverde ' Biography of organic production and the sale of these items.

In 1921 under the name "Besana Emilio & co.", group of Besana was founded by Emilio Besana and his brother Vincenzo. now it owns various productions and factories in Italy and abroad, for an annual volume of 16,800 tonnes of nuts and dried fruit (1400 tonnes of these are organic) and a turnover of approximately EUR 120 million.80% of production is exported in 23 countries. Besana sends the 70% of its products to Big Retail; the other 30% for the processing sector (ice cream, biscuits, chocolate, breakfast cereals, catering).

Besana coordinates the production of more than 2,000 farmer cooperatives and provided for decades all main European supermarket chains, especially in the segment of the offer "premium."
