Marketing exercise to promote road-toll systems

Deputy Transport Minister Jeremy Cronin on Saturday said there would be an exercise in huge sales over the next few months to explain the Gauteng toll system.

The Cabinet has approved a tariff reduction where motorists pay 40 cents per kilometre, while truckers pay R2 a kilometre.

Commuter taxis and buses will be exempted.

Cronin said the system would be implemented over the next four to five months.

"The system will be tested and there will be a great marketing exercise to explain to the drivers of Gauteng as work the system," he said.
