Around the net in Online Marketing: Quora test "credits" system, user profiles

Questions and answers site Quora began testing credits system called "ask answer suggestions". This provides users with a budget of 500 credits Quora, which can be used to pay others to answer questions. The price for questions at the end will increase or decrease based on the ability of the answerer to answer questions, as well as their experience of the subject.

Quora has also added the option to include the location information and employment in user profiles, allowing users to broadcast social and business information such as where they live, go to school and work. The new profiles also allow for status updates Facebook style, presumably because people were already using the feature in question to submit questions.

Regarding these new "interesting initiatives", TechCrunch said "all signs are that the site Q&A is trying to understand herself." According to Rebecca Cox Quora design, "we have a lot of systems in place to provide a good environment for learning and sharing, but these same systems can be difficult for people new to the site to understand".
